General Safety Rules
A. Things to note:
1. Access to this facility should be considered as a privilege.
2. Our facility shall not be liable for incidents that result from operating outside the regulations listed below. In addition, failure to comply with these regulations may lead to withdrawal of privileges to use the facility.
B. After Hours Working Policy:
1. Every user is advised to use the facility within normal working hours (8.30 am – 4.30 pm).
2. If you intend to use any equipment after 4.30 pm, you MUST inform the facility technician prior to equipment usage.
3. Never work alone. There should be at least 2 people in the lab for equipment usage after working hours.
C. Safety Regulations:
These simple rules are designed to protect both people and equipment.
1. Always wear eye protection, lab coat and gloves.
2. Wear covered shoes, not sandals.
3. Do not eat, drink or store food in the lab.
4. Long hair and loose clothing should be confined with rubber bands.
5. Wash your hands before leaving the laboratory.
6. Do not pour any organic solvents into the drain.
7. All wastes (organic and inorganic liquids, solids, paper towels and gloves) should be disposed off appropriately.
8. Place broken glass in the yellow garbage containers.
9. Do not place any chemical or other type of waste in these containers.
10. Handling Spills of Chemicals. Spill kits are available in all labs. Contact the facility technician IMMEDIATELY.
